With the leadership
of only four seniors, Jon Berdanier, Brad Fees, Ryan Frantz and Jason Moore, the Tide needed underclassmen to help carry the
team.
To fill those shoes, juniors, Derrick
McFarland, Mark Chiccini, Chris Schlitzer and Bobby Thompson stepped up. These four juniors played nearly every game and made
up part of the starting lineup.
In the final game of
the regular season, the Tide defeated arch rival Blue Mountain by a score of 67-53. With the victory over the Eagles, the
squad secured a playoff position in the District XI championships. "When we pulled together and played as a team, we
were unstoppable. In fact we were probably one of the most unstoppable forces in the Schuylkill League," Frantz said.
"Coming into the season our team had very high hopes. We had a very talented
team, but the chemistry was just not there. We struggled throughout the year to come together as a team. It's not quite the
way I wanted to end my basketball career," Berdanier said.
Despite a sub-par record overall in the Schuylkill League play the squad went on to districts. "Everyone played hard,
Whatever we had when we got there, we left out on the floor," Fees said of districts.
