"The surge of Victory"
Using a balanced offense and a solid defense the varsity boys' basketball
team accomplishes a twenty win season. Our season went well. We worked well as a team and had a very successful season,"
said Dan Pfeil. The varsity boys' basketball team got off to a fast start by winning 11 of their first 13 games. During the
span, the team captured the Boyertown Holiday Tournament title.
The league race was a three team dog fight. The Tide was in a three way tie for the division title. A three way playoff was
set up to determine the division champion and a wild card. The Tide earned a wild card playoff berth. In the league playoffs,
the squad cruised past Mahanoy Area but then fell by two points to eventual champion Shamokin.
The contests with Shamokin proved to be close. senior Brian Cerullo said, "Our
biggest win was at Shamokin. We came back the next night after losing to them at home."
Seniors Ryan McGinley and Dan Pfeil led a balanced offensive attack that averaged 59.2 points
a game. McGinley led the way with a scoring average of 14.9 points per game. Pfeil scored 14.2 points per game. Pfeil and
Cerullo handled the rebounding for the squad. On the defensive end, the Tide held their opponents to 50.2 points a game.
