Head
Coach Tyler Heffner 1st year as
head coach. I have been coaching in the program since 2016. I spent 2 seasons as 7th grade coach, 2 seasons as
8th grade coach, 2 seasons as freshman coach, and the last 3 seasons as the JV coach. I have also coached football and
baseball at Pottsville in that time. I was born February 10th, 1994, and I graduated from Pottsville in 2012. I
spent 4 years at Penn State University and graduated college in 2016.
I played 4 years of varsity basketball in High school where we won 3 schuylkill league titles, a district championship,
and made the state playoffs 3 out of 4 years. I was also a 3-year varsity player for both football and baseball, as
well. I am currently a special education teacher at the High School.
Coach Pat McCord Patrick
McCord is a committed educator and basketball coach whose roots in the Pottsville community run deep. A former Pottsville
basketball player and 2019 graduate, McCord went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Kutztown University in 2024, majoring
in Secondary Education - Social Studies with a minor in Athletic Administration/Coaching. He now serves as a Middle School
Social Studies teacher at Pottsville (2024-present), where he brings the same passion for learning and leadership to the classroom
that he brings to the court. McCord launched his coaching career as the 7th Grade
Head Coach at Pottsville during the 2022-23 season, later advancing to 8th Grade Head Coach from 2023-2025. In 2025, he expanded
his coaching role beyond the school setting, becoming the Head Coach of the PA Flight 16U Zero Gravity team. Known for his
emphasis on fundamentals, discipline, and player development, he has helped guide young athletes through critical stages of
their growth. McCord is also a major contributor to basketball in the Pottsville
community. He has directed Hoopfest at Barefield since 2023 and manages the Barefield Adult League, creating opportunities
for both youth and adults to stay engaged in the game. Dedicated, energetic, and always
focused on developing well-rounded athletes, Coach McCord continues to make a meaningful impact on the court, in the classroom,
and throughout the community.
